i'll get by with a little bit of hope and all

[ Well, it's a good thing that Kotomi is so oblivious. It also makes her oblivious to about 90% of what's going on in the apartments at any given time, including the many ghosts. Thanks to some warnings from other people she does steer clear from the ghosts and monsters, and sometimes she gets a little help too, but.. she just really is a hopeless case. She has noticed though that something is weird about the apartment she shares with Kai, especially at night, but that's probably why the slumber party Battler promised her is taking place here in Battler's room rather than in Kotomi's own room.

Not that she minds. Despite her obliviousness, even Kotomi herself can't escape the faint sense of dread hanging in this place, and it does scare her from time to time. And with some people (looking at you, Kai) being just as scary as the ghosts, she doesn't have anyone to confide in. Again. But Battler's different - he.. promised to be her knight, right? He promised to help her out, that he'd protect her.. so she feels safe whenever she's near him. She's sure she'll sleep so well as long as it's near him.. since surely he can fight off anything that appears.

So Kotomi is just sitting as neatly as possible on her knees on the floor in Battler's room, looking at him with her usual blank, but slightly curious expression. ]

So.. Battler-kun.. what do we do now?

[Oho! They were going to have a wonderful slumber party, it was going to be oh so excellent! Battler was so excited, he was protecting a girl as cute as Kotomi, she was going to be sleeping in his room, so close to him! Maybe he'd even be able to.... oh, oh no, he can't even begin to go there!

Battler..... get those thoughts away from you, don't even go there! She's pure, way too pure, you can't do this...! But her breasts are so wonderful, so big, so perfect! One feel, just one, and being in this place would make it all worth it~!

In any case, Battler was standing, looking at her as he rolled up his sleeves. He ditched his jacket, so he was simply in that red shirt and that vest of his, but he was getting ready for this slumber party!]

What do we do...? Heh, what a question, one that requires only one answer! Tonight, we grab as many blankets as possible and we make a massive fort! You heard me..! Biggest fort ever, we'll make it!

[ She hardly even realises his thoughts - as if Kotomi ever would. She's already oblivious to most things, and then especially to this, really, she's just blinking at him.. but still nodding at his commands. ]

And then we'll stay in it..? Just me and Battler-kun in that really, really big fort? [ .. ] Ah, but if it isn't really big, then we can't be close together.. [ Although she might want that for different reasons than him. ]

[he shakes his head. this girl is too naive, far too naive!]

Uh uh, no, you're not understanding! We make it huge, but by through sheer will we'll end up migrating closer and closer to each other~! It doesn't matter how big it is, we'll end up being close, I can assure you!

[ He sounds like such an expert!! At least to Kotomi, she's more than willing to believe all of this. So she just slowly nods as she's staring at him. As long as she ends up right next to him, then she's fine.. ]

It'll be much more fun if we're closer, right? I don't want to be too far away from Battler-kun.. that's scary.

Maybe we'll be so close we'll become one!

[...battler she won't get that at all!]

[ ... BATTLER.. but yup, she doesn't get it at all. Not in that sense, at least.. ]

.. Battler-kun and I becoming one.. [ She's trying to imagine it. ] Does that mean we'd be Kottler-kun after that..?

no really, he can feel it, death is approaching!]

Eehh no no, nothing like that! Not with our names but... ne... nevermind! I can tell, you won't understand such subtle hints...

[he laughs nervously to himself, and goes back to building the fort. he's grabbing the blankets, tying some together, and putting them over furniture and slowly building a pretty big fort for the two of them.]

[ Wow, go easy on her, Kotomi is just.. .. special..

But at least she's helping out. She's handing them to him, mostly, since it's not like she can build one herself or anything, but.. leaving it all up to Battler would be unfair, she knows that much. When the fort's gotten big enough, she turns to look to him. ]

So.. this is the mystical pillow fort..?

[he hates whatever she gives him, and soon enough he assembles the fort. it's.... actually really big, just like he had promised. he grins, feeling as though this was a child they had both made together!! it was pretty special.]

It is, oh yeah it is! Tell me, what do you think? Best ever, am I right?

I haven't seen any others to compare, but.. .. yes. [ She actually smiles a little bit now as she stares at it. It does look nice, so soft and all.. ]

I'm sure that right now, this must be the best pillow fort ever in the world.. and it's just mine and Battler-kun's.

[he looks over at her, his arms crossed and he stares at the girl. she seems happy about this, content, and her smile and even her words are enough to melt his heart. yeah, he knows that he did right with this, he knows that this was the right thing to do- to build this with her and make her happy. he does want to protect her more than anything, no doubt about it.]

...You have a really pretty smile, Kotomi-chan.

[it sort of slipped out, but he was too busy staring at her to really care about his embarrassing words.]

[ .. Huh? The words and what they don't mean don't hit her until a few moments later since she's so slow, but she slowly understands them. Her smile is.. pretty? He really thinks so? But nobody's ever said that before.

She blinks a little in surprise and confusion, but she's looking at him as she does so. ]

Battler-kun thinks my smile is.. pretty..?

[he's looking right at her, his smile still there, lingering as he stares at her and watches her expression change to one of surprise.]

Yeah. What, never heard that before? I find that kinda hard to believe, you're just pretty all around.

[ She shakes her head lightly, her gaze still a little more curious than her usual blank one. ]

Nobody ever said anything about me was pretty.. [ .. well, her parents don't really count, that's different. It's family. ] Battler-kun's the first to do it.

But..

[ Her hands move downwards, pressing against the area right below her neck. ]

.. Somehow.. it feels warm.

[...w...warm...?!

ah?! he stares for a moment, and he has to admit, his gaze drops a little from where her hands are and he's staring at her chest for a moment. man she's huge....!!

waaaait wait no! not now! his gaze moves back up to her eyes.]

Does it? Hey, that's the feeling you get when someone compliments you, but that warm feeling... maybe that's just from me~ ihihihihi!

Maybe it's just from Battler-kun..? [ She moves her hands a little, but she's still pressing them against her chest, as if she can investigate the feeling just by feeling around. Of course it doesn't work that way, but hey, she has to try somehow, she doesn't really get the feeling.. ]

Well.. it's true that I've felt warm more often around Battler-kun.. but why would Battler-kun have a special kind of feeling inside me? Does everyone have their own kind of feeling..?

[...nnn.... battler knows the reason, he feels it too, right? that feeling when you're attracted to someone, where all you want to do is impress them and make them smile, he does this with a lot of girls after all. he's a hopeless romantic after all, he really does like flirting, but... if he ever finds that girl he truly likes, he'd be oh so loyal to them as well.

he scratches his cheek at that.]

I... I guess so? Um, there are all kinds of feelings but... Kotomi-chan, have you ever been attracted to anyone before?

[...wait, it'd be better if he said an example.] In romance novels they talk about how much they like someone, right? How people make them feel? That kind of inner dialogue, you understand that don't you?

.. Uh-huh, I get that. I've read about it a lot of times before.

[ But theory and practice is different. So she can't really connect the two that easily, hence why it's still completely going over her head. ]

I'm not sure if I've ever felt the way they do in the books before though.. I think it's a little difficult to tell, maybe.

Is it...? Aah, maybe it's just me, I don't find it difficult at all. I think I have too many feelings actually, I never know what's going on~! Ihihihi...!!

Then Battler-kun has felt that feeling before? [ She steps closer to him. Almost uncomfortably close, her chest is practically pressing against his by this point just since it's so huge.. but she doesn't realise, she just stares up at him with big eyes. ]

Battler-kun understands that feeling..?

[...n...noooooooo wait wait! when she gets that close to him, her chest practically touching him, he blushes quite a bit. he doesn't move however, maybe a part of him wants her to press up against him... aah...~~~! but he does look away from her.]

M...maybe, yeah. Why do you ask?

[ Yeah, she still doesn't realise. And since she can't even see how he's acting slightly different and looking away, she doesn't notice it at all - so her chest just keeps pressing against him, wiggling a little even. ]

In that case.. maybe.. Battler-kun and I could share that feeling.. [ She doesn't even know what she's saying..! ]

[...whoa!! whoooaaa!! her chest is right against him, he can't even take this anymore! his face flushes red, then he just takes a few steps back, bringing his hands up in front of him and looking rather taken aback for a moment.]

H..hold it, wait just a moment! Do you understand, hey do you get it...?! That kind of thing um... well, I would like to know more about you before uh... w-we start those kinds of things, you know?

[basically he needs some heart to heart magic.]

[ .. Huh? That actually makes her stop for a moment, her slightly more determined (in her own weird way) attitude fading away once more as she just blinks at him, as if she doesn't get it. ]

"Those kind of things"..? Battler-kun, what's wrong with doing that? [ SHE WASN'T EVEN THINKING OF ANYTHING IN PARTICULAR.. ] I just thought it sounded nice..

...Mmm...

[right. she really doesn't get it, does she? he just shakes his head, smiling down at her now, his grin showing that absolutely nothing is wrong here at all nope!]

It does, doesn't it? Well... I have a request then. We get into our great fort here, and I want to know more about you, how's that?

I'll tell you a lot about me too- um, ever heard of a heart to heart Kotomi-chan? That's what it'll be.
