[Mika stared at the past residents, shaking her head at them no matter how much she could tell they were pleading with her. Dante looked terrible with the blood crusted on his lips. Link was hooking his fingers around the bars while Butterfly leaned against them. A dozen faces or more that she knew, Deuce was looking almost angry with her for not letting her out yet, but Mika just stood.

Shaking her head at them.

A dozen faces she knew so well, people she'd helped and fought with and next to and dug through God only knew what in their attempts to escape and there they were again. Voiceless. Judging. And it took everything she had to stand there and tell them all no.]

It's all fake. I know them better than that, Dante alone could've broken those bars and walked out any time he wanted to. I'm not stupid.

[Still, it must have been raining indoors, as she felt something hot and wet dripping from her chin as she looked them in the eyes.]

[A monstrous form ripples before Mika. All of the eyes on its body focus on her. A monster that burst from containment? Or something else belonging to the carnival? It's certainly not a resident.]

If he was eaten by this place, could it not turn his strength against him?

Could it not use his image to torment you?

He would have. In a heartbeat.

[Something about this place keeps her from being too shocked, or maybe Mika just expects these things in the carnival. She's certainly not screaming.]

The latter's more likely. This place always does that. When people disappear, their ghosts always remain. This is only different because they're solid, and probably more dangerous for it.

But this town's been messing with me for years now, I don't see why it would stop now.

'The latter'? 'More likely'? You are hearing what you wish to hear, to cement your own beliefs that you have convinced yourself are true. I gave no latter, only a continuation of the former.

[The creature flows over to the bars. It looks within, but some of its eyes keep focused on Mika.]

If this place has swallowed him, his strength is its. He would not be able to tear down these bars. He would be choked with his own guilt. That is how the godless die. That is how you will die.

[It begins to morph - not into anyone just yet, just changing its form form slightly.]
